The white-throated kingfisher is a relatively big bird, measuring approximately 27-28 cm in length. Its body structure is characterised by brilliant blue wings, tail and back while the breast and throat are white. Chestnut-coloured feathers are noticeable on its head, shoulders, flanks, and lower abdomen. The bird’s legs and bill have a vivid crimson hue. Its wings feature large white patches, which are visible when it is in flight.
